I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this webpage and database to my mentor, Dr. Rez Darnell. I started my PhD career rather late in life, and was lucky enough to attend Texas A&M University and have Dr. Darnell as my major professor in the Oceanography Department. I was his last graduate student. I was given the opportunity to work on a MMS project which entailed a food habits study of the demersal fishes on the MS AL continental shelf. My research on that project was the beginnings of a trophic bibliography, which Rez and I had intended to publish (and I still do) and the precursor to the Gulf of Mexico species interaction database and the GoMexSI webpage. Unfortunately Rez passed away several years ago, but he is often in my thoughts as I work on this project.
